A blessing ceremony was held for a new səlilwətaɬ house post in downtown Vancouver, honoring local First Nations’ history with the area. The six-metre tall post, titled Syewá:l, includes a portrait of artist Zac George Sko-Kay-Lem’s late grandfather, Chief Dan George. The artwork symbolizes the re-emergence of Coast Salish art in the city and celebrates ancestral traditions on National Indigenous Peoples Day.
