The largest digital camera at the Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile captured its first images of nebulas, stars, and galaxies, funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and Department of Energy. Named after astronomer Vera Rubin, it aims to survey the southern sky for 10 years, potentially discovering new celestial objects and shedding light on dark matter and dark energy.
