Two Ontario homeowners’ washing machines caught fire, nearly burning down their homes. Ontario’s OFM investigated 670 fires involving dryers and washing machines in five years. LG washing machines were involved in the incidents. LG Canada replaced the units for the homeowners. OFM advises checking cords, cleaning lint traps, and not overloading machines to prevent fires. The homeowners stress the importance of not leaving machines unattended.
