A Canadian citizen and U.S. permanent resident, Johnny Noviello, dies in ICE custody in Florida while awaiting removal. The cause of death is under investigation. Noviello faced removal for drug charges. ICE provided medical care but was unable to revive him. Noviello had been convicted of drug trafficking. Trump administration has increased immigration enforcement. Noviello was arrested for selling opioids in 2017.ICE notified the Canadian consulate of his death.
