The Los Angeles Lakers sign Deandre Ayton, a free-agent center, to a two-year deal with a player option for 2026-27. Ayton, 26, cleared waivers after a contract buyout with the Portland Trail Blazers. The former No. 1 pick averaged a double-double last season but faced behavioral issues in Portland. He is set to be the Lakers’ starting center.
