Russian transport minister Roman Starovoit, sacked by Putin, found dead with a gunshot wound. The circumstances are under investigation. No reason given for his dismissal. Deputy minister Andrei Nikitin named as replacement. Starovoit had been in office since May 2024. His predecessor, Aleksey Smirnov, was arrested for embezzlement. Starovoit’s death date unclear. Kremlin denies loss of trust in him over Kursk events.
