A young mother and her 5-month-old infant died after a tree fell on them at Comox Lake. Despite CPR efforts by bystanders and first responders, the mother died at the scene, and the infant later succumbed to injuries. The RCMP is investigating the incident, with no suspicion of criminality. Community events were canceled in light of the tragedy.
