The Shell-led LNG Canada project in Kitimat, British Columbia, has started producing liquefied natural gas for export, with a capacity of 14 million metric tonnes per annum. The facility, the first large-scale Canadian LNG project, will reduce sail time to Asian markets. However, only a portion of the plant is operational due to difficulties with one of its lines. The first LNG cargo is expected to be shipped in early July.
