Barrick Mining Corp. reported a profit of US$811 million in Q2 despite a US$1.04 billion charge from losing control of a Mali gold mine. Higher gold prices boosted earnings, but conflicts with Mali’s government complicate operations. The company also gained US$745 million from selling a stake in an Alaskan project and is reviewing its portfolio for potential sales.
