An Indigenous-led farm in Kitwanga lost 90% of its crops within a week due to a cutworm infestation. After initial confusion over the cause, the farm’s co-owner, Jacob Beaton, identified the insects and implemented a water strategy to bring them to the surface for birds to eat. The farm is now replanting with available seeds.
