After British Columbia made long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) free in April 2023, LARC dispensations surged by 49%. This increase highlights the impact of removing cost barriers on contraceptive choices. The study suggests that universal access to contraception could reduce unintended pregnancies and is prompting discussions for similar policies in other Canadian provinces.
