Mason Appleton, originally drafted by the Jets in 2015, left Winnipeg briefly when Seattle picked him in 2021-22 expansion draft. He returned to the Jets after a trade and signed a three-year deal in 2022. Despite expressing interest in staying, he is now headed to Detroit with a $2.9 million cap hit. Appleton’s journey from AHL to NHL success is commendable, playing 400 games and becoming the top 6th round pick in Jets history.
