A new exhibit at the Vancouver Island Military Museum highlights Chemainus flying officer George McGladrey, who survived a perilous bombing run during WWII. His story, featuring his heroic act of extinguishing a fire with his parachute, is immortalized in a 1943 True Comics issue. The museum will offer free admission on Remembrance Day, November 11.
